Meet you in Marrakesh airport leave to cross the High Atlas Mountains. After the Tichka
pass, you leave the main road and take a side road to the Telouet Kasbah, which belonged
to the Lords of the Atlas, the Glaoui family, and which now stands in ruins after the last
Pasha fled the country, following the departure of the French. From there you continue for
lunch at Ait Ben Haddou along the newly asphalted connecting road. This is the most
famous Kasbah in Morocco and is a UNESCO World Heritage site, which we visit after
lunch. After visiting the Kasbah, you continue to Ouarzazate, where you spend the night
After breakfast we leave Our hotel The road past Ouarzazate and to the Skoura Oasis,
where numerous ancient kasbahs, some sadly in ruins, stand amongst the palm trees. From
here, the route goes through Kela’a M’gouna, the Valley of Roses, with a stop to see
cosmetic articles locally-made from the valley’s abundant roses then to dades valley the river
before continuing to Toudgha to the very different gorges there. Lunch will either be here in
the gorges , we continue to Erg Chebbi dunes. You drive there via the Ziz Valley, and the
towns of Erfoud and Rissani which is where the king's family originates.
In the afternoon after a welcoming glass of tea, you can take a camel ride of between one
and two hours in the Sahara. The sunset from the top of the dunes is spectacular (250m)
and afterwards there is dinner and the night in a nomad tent at the foot of the dunes.
If you wake up early enough, you can watch the spectacle of the sunrise, when the colour of
the dunes and the play of shadows are an awesome sight. The drive back west to the Dra’a
Valley takes us along the length of the Saghro mountains via the villages of Tazzarine
(featured in the film ‘Babel’) and N’Qob, where we have lunch overlooking the mountains.
In the afternoon we drive to Tanasikht, where we reach the Dra’a valley, full of large palm
trees and ancient kasbahs. Here we go along the track of the ancient caravan route to
Agdez, and the oldest kasbah in the valley, Kasbah Tamnougalte. Back on the paved road
again, we return to Marrakesh again over the High Atlas at the end of the afternoon.
We will pick you up from your riad / hotel then drive south to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas mountains. On the way we will stop at the cedar forests to see the Barbarian
Apes in their natural habitat. Travelling through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt and along
the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock, you’ll see views of the Middle-Atlas plateau and the scenery changing to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city of
Errachidia. After lunch we’ll continue our journey through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani
and Merzouga. After a glass of mint tea, we’ll leave our luggage in a safe room then take a
camel ride to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi Sad Dunes which are the
highest sand dunes in North Africa. The camel trek takes about 1 hour 30 min from to the
camp where we will set up Berber tents for our night in the desert. The tents are well equipped with mattresses, blankets, and cushions. After dinner we will gather around the fire
and enjoy the sound of traditional Berber drums under the stars.
We will wake up early to enjoy a magnificent sunrise on the dunes then take a camel ride
back to the hotel. After freshening up and breakfast we’ll leave for Tinghir and the Todra
Gorges and finally arrive in the Dades Valley where we will have dinner and spend the night.
After breakfast we’ll drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The route through the Dades Valley, the way of the thousand Kasbahs, provides
numerous photo opportunities. We’ll visit the Roses valley and Skoura village, then continue
to Ouarzazat, “the Hollywood of Africa”. Lunch is at the famous Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, the
largest Kasbah in Morocco. After touring this UNESCO World Heritage site, our journey will
continue through the majestic Tizi nTichka pass, reaching an altitude of 2260m, over the High Atlas Mountains. We will stop to enjoy the impressive views and visit the argan oilcooperative. We will arrive in Marrakech late afternoon.
Today we enjoy best of Merzouga desert 4×4 excursion. You will explore Sahara dunes by
4×4, we visit vilage of Khamlia and here we listen famous Gnawa music. In nearby
Hassilabiad village we visit also Nomad museum. At afternoon we ride camels to desert
camp in Sahara. The camel trek leaded by an experienced camel guide will take about 1
hour and at the end we reach the Merzouga camp and we spend the night here after
watching the sunset and having Berber dinner. You enjoy listening to music of Berber drums.
