Itinerary

1st day: Marrakesh – Ouarzazate

Morning departure at 8 o’clock from your hotel or riad in Marrakesh to cross the High Atlas
Mountains. After the Tichka pass, you leave the main road and take a side road to the Telouet
Kasbah, which belonged to the Lords of the Atlas, the Glaoui family, and which now stands in ruins
after the last Pasha fled the country, following the departure of the French. O there you continue for
lunch at Ait Ben Haddou along the newly asphalted connecting road. This is the most famous Kasbah
in Morocco and is a UNESCO World Heritage site, which we visit after lunch. After visiting the Kasbah,
you continue to Ouarzazate, where you spend the night.

2nd day: Ouarzazate - N’kob

After breakfast, you will continue south to Agdez, the head of the Dra’a Valley, where you can visit
the oldest Kasbah in the valley. A little further south at Tansikht you turn east and follow the long line
of Bani Mountains towards Merzouga. We stop for lunch at a riad in N’Qob, overlooking the
mountains. Later we pass through Tazzarine, featured in the film “Babel” and reach the Guest house
Berber Nomad kasbah for the night , where you will be greeted with a glass of tea. After you have
settled a little, you take a mules ride for the children and walk in Saghro Mountains for 2 hours there
to enjoy the sun go down over the mountains , followed by dinner and the night in the guest house .

3rd day: N’kob - Merzouga

After breakfast, you will continue south toRessani , the head of the Ziz Valley . A little further south at
Tazarin you turn east and follow the long line of Bani Mountains towards Merzouga. We stop for
lunch at Rissani town , where you can visit the market . Later we pass through hamada ston desert ,
to reach the bivouac in Merzouga, where you will be greeted with a glass of tea. After you have
settled a little, you take a camel ride to watch the sun go down over the dunes, followed by dinner
and the night in a nomad tent.

4d day : Merzouga - Merzouga

After breakfast, you will go all the way round the dunes via the oasis of MERZOUGA, the
nomadic depository, KHAMLIA village (Blacks’ village You’ll visit the Gnawa people,
originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away
there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations, you’ll leave for Rissani. Once called
Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuktu in Mali.
Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths. After lunch at Noura
restaurant to try a berber Pizza then we go to have Mottos ride and back to the tents after

Day 5: Merzouga - Todgha Valley

If you wake up early enough, you can watch the spectacle of the sunrise, when the colour of the
dunes and the play of shadows are an awesome sight. After breakfast you can walk in the dunes
before leaving for Tinghir and the Toudgha gorges, passing Rissani the original seat of the present
King’s family and then Erfoud, famous for its dates and the date festival in October. It is also

well-known for the myriads of fossils found in the neighbourhood. In Toudgha, there are plenty of
opportunities to walk, such as along the river through the gardens or up the road on the other side of

the gorges.

Day 6 :Merzouga – Dades

If you wake up early enough, you can watch the spectacle of the sunrise, when the colour of the
dunes and the play of shadows are an awesome sight. After breakfast you can have a camel ride for a
couple of hours (or less; it depends on you) before leaving for Tinghir and the Toudgha gorges for
lunch. The road passes through Tinjdad and the Toudgha Valley. Here there are plenty of
opportunities to walk, such as along the river through the gardens or up the road on the other side of
the gorges. Later the itinerary continues to the Dades Valley and the Dades Gorges for the night .

7th day: Dades - Ouarzazate

After breakfast a walk in the Dades Gorges is scheduled. Back at the car, the trip to Ouarzazate
continues, going off-road along the Boutarar piste to visit Berber nomads in their caves and partake
of a glass of tea with them. From here we continue through the Valley of the Roses, famous for its
Rose Festival in May, and where highly valued oils, creams and soups are produced. You reach the
kasbahs of Skoura, the most well-known of which is Kasbah Amredil which you will stop to visit. Once
in Ouarzazate you will stay in a riad or guest house.
